How to choose a water filter

The first thing you need to decide is, what you want the filter to do for you. Most people want a filter to give them cleaner, fresher tasting water, whilst others want specific contaminants removed from the water, for example some people in older properties have lead supply pipes and they want to be sure that the lead is removed, whilst others may wish to banish the hard water scale and film from their tea.

Use the comparison chart to select a system that does what you need, then look for other features such as size, price etc. Remember that it is the media (the material inside the filter cartridge) that determines the performance of the system, on most units it is possible to change to a different cartridge later if your requirements change.

How to install a water filter

All of our systems are supplied with all the components you need and come complete with full installation instructions. Most practical people would be happy to tackle the job themselves and it would normally take about an hour. A local plumber would probably charge in the region of £30-£50 (we would suggest you get a quote first).

You will need access to the area under the part of the sink or worktop where you intend to fit the tap. It is not possible to drill vitreous china sinks, either locate the tap in the worktop or contact us for advice on optional arrangements.

Tools required for water filter installation

  • Electric drill with 12mm drill bit
  • Sharp knife
  • Phillips screwdriver
